After a weekend of highs and lows, bumps, bruises and brawls, Conor McGregor has come out the other side of his Las Vegas fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov still as defiant and unapologetic as ever.

Moments after the match, a victorious Nurmagomedov leapt out the Octagon and allegedly attacked members of McGregor’s team, with McGregor himself being punched by one of Khabib’s team.

During the post-fight press conference, Nurmagomedov explained why he attacked McGregor’s team, saying the Irishman had made provocative comments about his ‘religion, country and father’.

Now, however fans are criticising McGregor for his latest comments on the fight.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote:

We lost the match but won the battle.
The war goes on.

Of course, after the defeat, fans weren’t so sure about McGregor’s choice of words.

One wrote:

Are you sure about that

Another said:

Absolutely! you won the battle of tapping

While a third added:

won the battle? damn i must’ve watched the wrong fight

The jibes didn’t end there though:

Three of Nurmagomedov’s team were arrested at the event, but were later released.

Following the post-match brawl, UFC President Dana White confirmed McGregor has decided not to press charges against Nurmagomedov’s team.

According to the Daily Mail, he spoke to press at the post-fight conference stating:

I saw one of Conor’s guys yelling at Khabib, he then jumped over the octagon and went after him.

Two of Khabib’s guys got into the octagon and hit Conor with some shots from behind. They have pulled the footage from us and have withheld Khabib’s purse but not Conor.

Conor refused to press charges so the guys who were arrested have been released. The guys who jumped in will never fight here. I’ve been working hard for 18 years to build this sport.

I know many of you are here for the first time, I can promise you that this is not what MMA is about. We worked hard to build a perfect event, we took all the right precautions, you’ve never seen so many police officers.

Nobody saw Khabib scaling that cage like he was a parkour guy, it happened so fast but they did a great job of containing it.

McGregor obviously isn’t done, however, and as his latest tweet proves, he’s already hungry for more.

The Irishman has already asked for another round, tweeting:

Good knock. Looking forward to the rematch.

The Las Vegas was McGregor’s first fight back in the Octagon since a two-year hiatus from MMA, during which time he boxed Floyd Mayweather, losing by TKO in round 10 of their August 2017 bout.

Mystic Mac returned to the UFC in a bid to once again win the lightweight strap. He first took the belt from Eddie Alvarez on November 12, 2016, but was stripped of the title during his absence from the sport.

Nurmagomedov would eventually become the champion after defeating Al Iaquinta for the vacant belt on April 7, 2018.

As for the rematch, it’s anyone’s guess.
