Gymkhana GRiD’s sixth tournament featured 2017 FIA World Rallycross Drivers' Champion Johan Kristoffersson who walked away with the All-Wheel Drive championship, ahead of rivals Petter Solberg and Andreas Bakkerud.
In the Rear-Wheel Drive category, the title went to the UK's very own Luke Woodham, picking up a fourth consecutive GRiD title while seeing off competition from fellow compatriots Adam Elder and Danny Cross.
Gymkhana GriD's four-hour broadcast also drew in a record-breaking number of viewers with 'Head Hoonigan in Charge', Ken Block, saying:
It’s been tons of fun to drive, and even just to watch has been so much fun. I’m just stoked to continue Gymkhana GRiD and hope it gets bigger and better in the future!
Thank you to all the fans that have come out to watch us race; it’s been an absolute blast!
Block explained that Gymkhana GRiD has been growing year on year, and to have it expand to an incredible country like South Africa is very exciting.
When I was last there for Clarkson, Hammond and May Live in 2016 my team and I had such a warm welcome.
South Africans are very passionate about motorsport, and I enjoyed my time down there a lot. We have some big plans in place for the GRiD track this year – it’s going to bigger and better than ever before!
While the dust has now settled on the tracks in Carnival City, we wait in excited anticipation for Gymkhana GRiD 2018, which promises to be bigger, faster and more exciting than ever before.
