It’s hard to know who’s more injury prone out of Jack Wilshere and Danny Sturridge.
Wilshere limped out of pre season with his ever troublesome knee injury flaring up again, and now Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Sturridge may miss the season opener against Arsenal.
The forward has only made 26 Premier League appearances in two seasons, and his fitness issues don’t look like going anywhere any time soon.
Klopp spoke about the Arsenal clash and said:
On Wednesday he could train.
On Thursday, he felt [it] a little bit so we will have to see.
Given Sturridge is almost guaranteed to score when he actually does manage to play, losing him in such a huge game would be a blow for Liverpool, but considering the amount of injury issues Arsenal have, Liverpool will consider themselves heavy favourites regardless.
It must be frustrating for both Sturridge and Liverpool fans to see the forward pull up with fitness problems ahead of the new season, and it does beg the question how many goals he would’ve scored for the Reds if he had stayed consistently fit during his time at the club.
