Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have spent the majority of their summer chasing after Paul Pogba, and while that move certainly looks like it could be finalized soon, the Red Devils have also been linked with another French star.
The club are reportedly keen on West Ham’s Dimitri Payet, who not only had a pretty stunning season domestically last time out, but shone at the Euros as well, even when his side struggled.
We all know the wicked ability Payet has when it comes to deadball situations, and despite pledging his allegiance to the Hammers, his head could easily be turned by the chance to not only play for one of the biggest clubs in world football, but also to work with Jose Mourinho.
Payet isn’t getting any younger, but West Ham will demand a huge amount of money for him, with rumoured figures ranging from the £50 million mark, all the way north of £100 million – which would be ludicrous.
As we’ve seen time and time again, no one knows what’s going to happen until the transfer window slams shut, and while this could well be classic silly season in full swing, United fans can dare to dream.
