Premier League new boys Middlesbrough are certainly keen to make an impact in the Premier League.
They’ve already signed former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, and are now trying to sign Robin van Persie.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker left Old Trafford to join Fenerbahce a year ago, but hasn’t settled in Turkey and is keen on a return to England.
RVP did manage 16 goals in his debut season in Turkey, but the club are willing to listen to offers for the Dutchman as they prepare for the new season.
Premier League Champions Leicester have also been linked with a swoop for the 32-year-old, and their hopes were boosted by RVP following Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez on Twitter.
And as we know, following someone on Twitter is basically signing a contract.
So Middlesbrough face a fight for a new striker, but with the pulling power of Aitor Karanka and marquee names like Victor Valdes buying into the project, Van Persie could be back on English soil before long.
