Despite still being in the group stages, the World Cup has already thrown up some surprise results.

And, as the many, many football games get broadcast all the over the world, viewers not only get to see the best players in the world battle it out, but some of the crowds in attendance too.

One such spectator who has caused a bit of a storm is 28-year-old Natalya Nemchinova, who was dubbed ‘the prettiest Russian football fan’ when she was caught by a photographer in the crowd at tournament opener, Russia vs Saudi Arabia.

The fan, sporting two flags, a traditional Russian ‘kokoshnik’ on her head and wearing a top emblazoned with ‘Russia’ across the front, was clearly displaying a high level of patriotism for her country.

Nemchinova was, in fact, so patriotic that she clearly stuck in other viewers’ minds long after the game finished as, after some digging, internet sleuths found more images and videos, that were allegedly of her, in x-rated films online.

As The Sun reports, people discovered her identity after zooming in on her Fan ID.

However, as her name and image spread across the internet, Nemchinova has responded to the ‘issue’, saying it has reduced her to tears to be dubbed a porn star in the media, reports the NY Post.

She said:

In fact this is a very old story. I was in a relationship with a young man five years ago.

When we broke up he got back at me. He uploaded a home video to the internet and that is how it began.

I never worked as a porn actress, I never sold my body for cash. I was a model for some time, but that was my hobby, not a steady job.

She also said it was her friends who told her about the attention she was receiving, as she is not on social media, and says she has a good reputation.

Nemchinova added:

I was shocked by all this, I even cried, I am lucky that there are people who support me and who know who I am.

Thankfully, the news stories are not going to stop her supporting her country in the World Cup and watching the football.

She said:

I became a superfan after Euro 2012, I was in Poland and it was my first fan trip.

I truly support my national team. I was in Poland, Brazil (for the 2014 World Cup) and France during Euro 2016.

Nemchinova added she wants to dispel the rumours once and for all, and hopes her new found fame will come to an end soon.

Other audiences at the World Cup making headlines were the Senegal and Japan fans, who stayed behind after their teams’ matches to help clean the stadium.

After facing Poland, instead of leaving the stands and carrying on the celebrations, the Senegalese fans rolled up their sleeves and pitched in to help with the clean-up.

Their actions have been praised on social media, with some people calling it a mark of respect how other nations in the tournament should behave.

While the matches are the focus of the tournament of course, it’s refreshing to see the spectators receive some due attention too.
