MMA is a notoriously brutal sport, with serious injuries and even deaths being reported as a result of fights in the ring.
But UFC has nothing on this Russian backyard fighting, which is simultaneously more brutal and exciting as a result.
In the video below, MMA fighter, Denis Lobikov, accepted the challenge of stepping into the ring to face off against an untrained rival.
There is a sizeable crowd behind the ropes, who don’t seem to be aware of what’s to come.
As reported by the Daily Star, the untrained truck driver in the yellow shirt, seems to be a bit *cough* on the ropes…
There are moments when it looks as though the driver may even lose his footing, but the fight quickly takes a turn and the truck driver gets the upper hand.
A few minutes into the fight, the man manages to break through the MMA fighter’s defences and lands an absolutely insane shot to the face of the pro.
He takes a quick tumble and that’s it – the fight’s over with a shower of hammer fists. The driver really looked like the stronger fighter even though he clearly had less skill.
It just goes to show a good right hook can catch you no matter how good you think you are.
The clip is a few months old but the video has resurfaced online and has been viewed millions of times since it was uploaded to YouTube.
The fight was part of a STRELKA Arrows Street Fight, a series of street fights in Russia and beyond.
Check out the video below, and skip to the four minute mark for the good bit:
People were mighty impressed with the fighting ability of the unknown fighter, praising his brute strength.
One commenter even posted:
Turns out he doesn’t drive them [trucks], he lifts them. Mistakes happen.
Many other people online have cheered on the evident sportsmanship which is present in the fight – the displays of mutual respect toward the competing fighter is refreshing to see.
The sport is still very dangerous though, even outside of the ring. Last week we reported on Paige VanZant, the MMA superstar, who revealed a gruelling regime.
She spoke of the brutal rules imposed before fighters even set foot inside of the Octagon. The 23-year-old recently took to social media to reveal the brutal consequences of cutting and making weight at weigh-ins.
In an interview on The MMA Hour, VanZant claimed:
I’m a lot heavier than people realise. I was honestly killing myself for this sport. In my last I want to say two or three fights, I’ve passed out in my bathroom.
This last one, I passed out and had the doctors almost not cleared me for the fight.
115lb Paige? Ain’t nobody got time for that!! Haha I can’t wait to wreck shop at 125!!!! Who agrees???? pic.twitter.com/RFvyNNzdu2

The revelations, along with images of Paige during her dramatic weight cut, have further escalated calls for regulators of the sport to change the rules around weight cutting.
One thing’s for sure, watching the video of the Russian truck driver, weight can certainly be a benefit in the ring.
He wouldn’t have done half as well without the advantage over his opponent!
