‘The Greatest’ Muhammad Ali On Life Support As Family Fear Worst
Boxing legend Muhammad Ali is on life support and his family are reportedly preparing for the worst.
As reported by the Daily Mirror, four of his children are at his bedside and have been warned he ‘is near the end’.
The 74-year-old was admitted to a hospital in Phoenix following reports of respiratory difficulties.
The former heavyweight champ’s breathing difficulties have been complicated due to the fact he has suffered with Parkinsons since the 1980s.
Initially hopes Ali would pull through were high as a source revealed his condition was thought to be ‘fair’.
Bob Gunnell said in a written statement:
Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition.
A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.
Since that statement it appears his condition has deteriorated.
Another source is reported as saying:
Like in the ring, Ali is a fighter on the ward. Doctors are working to regulate his breathing put it is being hampered by his Parkinson’s.
His children are all extremely concerned and dropped everything to be with him. They fear the worst.
Ali is everything to them and there are worried his problems are worse than first feared.
Our thoughts are with the talismanic fighter and his family at this difficult time.
