Conor McGregor earned the fight purse of $3 million after winning his UFC 205 match against Eddie Alvarez. The mixed martial arts event, held at Madison Square Gardens in Manhattan, New York, was described by the UFC president as ‘the biggest fight card’ in UFC history. As well as other fights that night, the evening was headlined by the champion versus champion pairing of McGregor and Alvarez. The match was only the second time in the event’s history that champions in different divisions fought for the same title, with featherweight champion McGregor challenging lightweight champion Alvarez for his title.
