Every time a new iPhone gets released, Apple addicts across the world get understandably excited dying to know what they can expect from the new gadget.

These fans are in luck then, as it seems Apple have recently leaked details about their new device that is likely to hit shelves in September.

It appears the iPhone 8 will have features that include a facial recognition system, a tap to wake function, a virtual home button and a bezel-free screen.

Apple accidentally released their new HomePod firmware over the weekend on an official public update feed.

Of course, realising their error, they quickly took down the information, but not before eager developers had managed to download it and immediately started posting their findings on Twitter.

Analysing the code these developers, that include Steve Troughton-Smith and Guilherme Rmambo, uncovered many secrets about the upcoming iPhone 8.

Although Apple is using code names for their secret features – facial recognition is ‘Pearl ID’ for example – this did not fool these developers

It may just look like a string of numbers, letters and symbols to you and me, but what the code reveals is exciting.

We’ll just have to wait until the autumn to see how many of these features make it onto the final model…
