Jeff Bezos shares nostalgic video of the original Amazon headquarters to announce move to Miami

The video shows a much-younger Jeff Bezos

Jeff Bezos has shared a nostalgic video of the original Amazon headquarters as he announces the company is moving to Miami.

The Amazon founder, who started the company in 1994, has largely done business out of Seattle.

However, Bezos is ditching the US city for a bit of sun as Amazon heads to Miami - where Bezos recently purchased multiple mega-mansions.

To mark the monumental move, Bezos posted a video to his Instagram account of his much-younger self showing off the original Amazon headquarters that he ran out of his garage.

Captioning the video, Bezos penned: "Seattle has been my home since 1994 when I started Amazon out of my garage. That’s my dad behind the camera in this video, touring Amazon’s first 'office'.

"My parents have always been my biggest supporters. They recently moved back to Miami, the place we lived when I was younger (Miami Palmetto High class of ’82 — GO Panthers!) I want to be close to my parents, and Lauren and I love Miami. Also, Blue Origin’s operations are increasingly shifting to Cape Canaveral. For all that, I’m planning to return to Miami, leaving the Pacific Northwest.

"I’ve lived in Seattle longer than I’ve lived anywhere else and have so many amazing memories here. As exciting as the move is, it’s an emotional decision for me. Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart."

In the nostalgic blast from the past, a 30-year-old Bezos can be heard saying: "It doesn’t take long to tour the offices of Amazon.com, Inc."

His father, who is manning the camera, can be heard cheering on the CEO, adding: "We are in the nerve center!"

In the video, Bezos takes viewers around his rather cramped desk - showing off his desk and some of the items Amazon has in stock.

Compare that to the amount of items the shopping giant stocks nowadays, there really is no comparison.

The move comes after a man used grains of rice to show how much Bezos is worth compared to a bog-standard millionaire.

In a now viral video shared to TikTok, creator HumphreyTalks used a grain of rice to help us understand.

He made one grain of rice be worth $100,000, making 10 grains of rice value at $1 million... obviously.

Yang then spent absolute hours counting out grains of rice to show us a visual of how much the mega $1 billion is.
