Apple's next iPhone could be coming sooner than expected, according to an insider's claims.
While the tech giant's other products, whether it's MacBooks or iPads, aren't quite so predictable, new iPhones typically launch towards the end of the year from around September onwards, bar a few exceptions.
Apple's most recent phone launch – including the iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini – released on September 24 last year; that said, anyone who bought the top-end model will attest a long delay for theirs to arrive.
This pattern of a fall release schedule for new iPhones held true for five years since the iPhone 4S back in 2011 – until the first-ever iPhone SE, which shared the iPhone 5's design with boosted performance, while still markedly cheaper than its budget-busting siblings.

Now, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg believes Apple will return with another low-cost alternative iPhone, as well as another iPad Air, in just a month's time.
According to Gurman, Apple is 'targeting a date on or near Tuesday, March 8, to unveil a new low-cost iPhone and an updated iPad, according to people with knowledge of the matter', with a possible release date of Friday, March 11, or maybe the week after.
Similar to past pandemic-restricted presentations, the unveiling is likely to be completely virtual. 'Given that the planned timing is still more than a month away, the company’s plans may change in the face of production delays or other changes,' Gurman's sources said.
As for what to expect from the new phone, it will allegedly be 'the first update to the iPhone SE model in two years, adding 5G network capabilities, an improved camera and a faster processor. But the design itself is expected to be similar to the current version, which debuted in April 2020,' his report claims.
'The new iPad, meanwhile, will be an update to the Air model that features a faster processor and 5G. The company is also planning a new Mac with Apple-designed chips, which could also come as early as March,' it adds.

Apple will also drop an iOS 15.4 update in March, with new Face ID support for people wearing masks – a constant annoyance I'm sure many will sympathise with. Across 2022, Apple's line-up is said to boast new iMac and Mac Pro desktops, a redesigned MacBook Air, an updated lower-cost MacBook Pro, three Apple Watches, four iPhone 14 models and new AirPods.
