Donald Trump's Truth Social App Is Failing Fantastically, Report Says

The former president is yet to post on his own app, with downloads way down since last month's launch date

Truth Social, former US president Donald Trump's social media platform, has seen a 93 percent drop in downloads since last month's launch date, a new report claims.

According to analytics site Sensor Tower, as few as 60,000 new users are signing up each week, which is down significantly from the 870,000 that signed up on launch week.

Trump and his team pushed to create Truth Social following the January 6th Capitol riot and his subsequent removal from Twitter.

The 75-year-old was accused of inciting violence on the day of the riot, forcing Twitter to permanently ban him from the social media platform.

Since then, apps like Parler and Gettr have emerged, each claiming to be the preeminent – and uncensored – alternative to Twitter.

However, much like Trump's Truth Social, none have managed to maintain momentum after promising first weeks.

Stephanie Chan of Sensor Tower told The Wrap: “We estimate that Truth Social has so far reached approximately 1.2 million installs since its launch.”

Statistics gathered by similarweb suggest that weekly visits to Truth Social have fallen to 1.9 million, which suggest the site has already plateaued just one month after its launch date.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favourite American president has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” Mr Trump said ahead of the app’s launch.

“I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech.”

Sensor Tower's analysis comes not long after The Daily Beast reported that Trump had been overheard complaining about Truth Social since its February launch.

He reportedly questioned: “What the f*** is going on?”, and also mentioned negative press about Truth Social and the lack of users.

Since debuting at the top of the Apple's free app list for most downloads, Truth Social has fallen more than 199 spots. At the time of writing, it's no longer on that list, which only goes to 200.

Truth Social's download page on the App Store fell from 361,000 visits its first week to around 90,000 in a seven-day period last week, according to the Daily Mail.
