Male Robot ‘Companions’ To Go On Sale This Year

Robots with their own metal members are due to be rolled out this year by the same guys who created the popular female versions.

The company, Realbotix, created Harmony, an artificial intelligence app which syncs up with a dummy body.

The app helps users match an AI personality with the human-like robot head, so that they can make their perfect companion.

The company’s most famous creation, Harmony, was an incredible success, and its complex AI allowed her to talk and satisfy whatever the customer desired, and could even learn over time.

So far, there is only a female version of the avatars and heads, and they cost about £11,000, but Realbotix founder Matt McMullen reckons there is a massive demand for male versions.

He told the Daily Star Online:

We’re working on a male version of the robot AI. We’ll eventually have a male and female platform available.

In a Black Mirror-esque premise, Matt confirms he has blueprints to create the male robot with a ‘bionic’ member which can go as long as the user wants them to.

And if the customer has a preference on the shape and size of the robot’s endowment, then there are plenty of options.

Matt said:

There’s rebuilding that needs to happen on both fronts to create a male platform. We’re working hard on that and that’s one of the next big things we’re looking to get up and running.

If you think this is a silly idea that people won’t be interested in, you’d be wrong, and many experts actually reckon the potential of the market is bigger than the existing one for vibrators and other sex toys.

World leading AI researcher Dr David Levy said:

I’m sure women will find robots equally appealing as men.

If women are that interested in getting satisfaction from a vibrator, imagine how the same women will feel having a robot they can put their arms round them and having the robot squeeze them.

Some developers are even going further with this technological development and saying we might be able to have ‘kids’ with your desired robotic lover.

A creator of a different robot explained he has plans to upgrade his ‘Samantha’ with concepts of human values like beauty and justice.

He told The Sun:

Then to create a child with this robot would be extremely simple. I would make an algorithm of what I personally believe about these concepts, and then shuffle it with what she thinks and then 3D print it.

That’s it. I 3D print the robot that is the child of me and the robot… I don’t see any complications.

‘I don’t see any complications’ – the famous last words which could bring down an entire human race.

Do these guys not watch sci-fi? A robot with the conscience of a human? That is a risky proposition right there.

Even robot vacuum cleaners are a bit much for me.
