People are losing it over difference in Mortal Kombat 1's graphics on PS5 and Switch versions

The fighting game officially releases on September 19, but fans who pre-ordered the premium edition have been granted early access.

Mortal Kombat fans are surprised to find there’s an hilarious contrast in quality when comparing PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch graphics.

Gamers who forked out and preordered a premium edition of Mortal Kombat 1 have been enjoying an early taste of NetherRealm Studios’ premier fighting game.

The soon-to-be-released game is the 12th instalment in the series and serves as the second reboot, following 2011's Mortal Kombat.

It has also been billed as the sequel to 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.

While the Warner Bros. Games title isn’t available to the common folk until tomorrow (19 September), many have already been enjoying sparring with Johnny Cage, Scorpion and Liu Kang.

However, some Switch users have been reporting poor graphic quality and glitches that are allegedly impacting gameplay.

One X user has taken to social media to showcase just how different the MK1 Switch and PlayStation 5 graphics are.

Alongside a series of side-by-side comparison pictures, game reviewer @SynthPotato wrote: “Crying at the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1.

“Why didn’t they just wait for the next gen Switch console, the fact it costs 70$ is robbery.”

Since posting, fellow Mortal Kombat 1 players and game critics alike have taken to X to give their opinion on the graphics disparity.

One wrote: “I learnt from my mistakes when I got MK11 on Switch, but this is somehow soo much worse. No idea how they're okay with releasing the game looking like this, it just shouldn't be on Switch.”

A Nintendo fan said: “This is why my Switch is solely used for 1st party titles and pixel indies...these big multi-plat games are ALWAYS lacking on Nintendo consoles lmao.”

Another wrote: “So it's pretty much an issue with the eyes. They seem to be static and mostly unlit. So even in a dark scene, they're blazing bright and staring straight ahead.

"It looks hilarious but seems fixable and I'm confused that it shipped this way."

A fourth commented on the thread: “If gameplay is solid, portability is a game-changer.”

"I can make a better face with play-doh," said another.

While many players have already slated the release, it’s been announced that NetherRealm has put out an update patch.

This is expected to iron out any issues that have previously arisen.

UNILAD has contacted Warner Bros Games for a comment.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available now in early access and launches on September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch and Xbox Series X/S.
