Apple have launched their new smartphone the iPhone 15 and fans of their phones will have to get used to a few new features.
This latest model of the iPhone has been described by experts as the 'biggest update to the device in three years' and Apple have revealed it at their latest 'Apple Event', which largely consists of people standing in needlessly remote locations describing incremental changes in gadget technology.
While there was plenty of preamble about Apple Watches, it's the announcement of the iPhone 15 that most were waiting to hear about and with another year, there's another model soon to hit the shelves.
First off, the design is going to be a bit different with Apple reckoning that the changes will make the iPhone a bit easier to carry.

There was also plenty to talk about in terms of screen brightness and the larger screen display so there's more things to occupy your eyes while the phone sits in your hand.
That bright screen will also be protected from smashing as Apple claims that their screens are now tougher than ever.
Meanwhile, the iPhone's camera has had a tune-up and they say their photo app will now automatically detect if someone is in the picture you're trying to take and switch over to portrait mode.
That camera on the phone is also a 48 megapixel one, the kind of thing you'd have been able to find on an iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple also announced that their phones will have a mode where you can filter out background noise and have the microphone just focus on what you're saying, so if you're one of the few people who still uses their phone as a phone then you'll be easier to hear than before.
However, the big one pretty much everyone has been waiting for is the announcement that the lightning port which has been a staple of the iPhone ever since the iPhone 5 will no longer be the only game in town.
iPhone fans have been waiting for quite a while for this update as it switches the iPhone from having to connect to Apple's own lightning cables to being compatible with the far more universal USB-C cables.

This isn't just happening because they want to make their devices more accessible to everyone, however, as the European Parliament last year enforced legislation which required all phones, tablets and handheld cameras to have a USB-C charging port.
Apple said they had 'no choice' but to comply with the new legislation, so you'll be seeing a more universal charging port being rolled out across their product range.
The deadline to get this sorted out is the end of 2024, though it doesn't mean that the axe is coming down on all lightning charger products any time soon as there are still plenty of iPhones out there which have the lightning ports.
It won't be long before the iPhone 15 becomes available for pre-order ahead of going on general sale on 22 September.
