The only saving grace when you find yourself watching Love Island is being able to laugh at the sarcastic quips of the Scottish commentator.
Whether you’re watching it out of intrigue, to fit in at work, or to distract you from your uninteresting love life, we can all agree that the witty commentator is the thing that reminds us we are watching with a sense of irony.
If it wasn’t for Scottish comic Iain Stirling, we would just be watching a load of scantily clad people from Essex have sex and snaking each other in a villa in Spain…and that would be insane, right?

The 29-year-old comedian is a regular on the circuit and has been narrating the ITV2 reality series since 2015.
Through his fake excitement about what the horny twenty-somethings are going to do next, you can hear that deep inside, Iain is one of us who has been forced to watch the show by a friend who insists ‘you’ll love it, there’s so much drama’.
He’s definitely the most bearable character on the show, with his savage one-liners and sarcastic humouring of the contestants.
All we usually hear is his wonderful Scottish voice though, so it’s great to put a face to the jokes.
Stirling actually studied law at university. I’m not sure how that really comes in use on Love Island, except perhaps for the regular public indecency.
