He may hate it because he’s a big, buff, serious actor nowadays but Daniel Radcliffe’s original Harry Potter audition video has just re-emerged online, and you’d better believe we’re watching it on a loop!
The footage shows the young actor prior to the filming of first movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone back in those halcyon days of 2001.
The clip shows fresh-faced scamp Radcliffe running through his lines, talking about Sirius Black and discussing dragon’s eggs, before giggling uncontrollably. Frankly, Harry, it’s no laughing matter when Voldemort is on the loose!
The 26-year-old revealed over the weekend that someone had sent him a YouTube link to the audition. Speaking to The Times, he explained his reaction simply as: “And I was like, ‘Oh shit! OK …'”
He probably should have kept the news to himself though, because the revelation has sent the video viral once again, which isn’t great for big Dan considering how much the whole thing apparently embarrasses him.
Understandably, Radcliffe added that he hates watching himself act as a child because he was “at a stage when you hate your face anyway, and anything it does is repellent to you”. Harsh but fair…
Apparently it got so bad that he refuses to watch himself on screen at all nowadays, which probably made things pretty awkward at the premiere of his new movie Victor Frankenstein.
If he’d had any sense, Daniel would have just used some magic to make this video disappear. Wait, what do you mean wizards aren’t real?
