Students have created an unofficial, unauthorised, probably copyright infringing commercial for Johnnie Walker. It’s brilliant.
The team behind it is a bit of mystery at the moment, but it was released on YouTube some hours ago and has gone to the front page of reddit.
It’s great to be reminded of how advertising can be sincerely emotive.
It seems so rare that ads with a story and sincerity ever get produced. It seems like the only way ads like this can be made is if they are released on the web.
Most of the time marketers probably have to work under technical restrictions i.e 15 seconds or less, get the message in one slogan etc.
Anyhow, take a look and enjoy:
What do you think? Should Johnnie Walker consider using “Dear Brother” as their new commercial?
