Game of Thrones has captured our attention since its very first episode, but it’s not just tits and dragons that make the show so great – it’s the actors.
The casting is so good that it’s the type of show where you couldn’t imagine anyone else being cast for any of the roles. They’re already perfect.
And the performances we’ve seen in all six seasons are the reason we get so engrossed in the show and – let’s admit it – feel pretty damn lost when a season ends.
But just five short years ago, we couldn’t put a face to Jon Snow, the Hound or Arya, and the actors were fighting for their roles among hundreds of other hungry actors.
Wondering what made them stand out from the rest? Their audition tapes might show you, and it reminds us all why we love the show so much.
Here are the stars of GOT and their Emmy-worthy auditions:
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark):
Scot Rory McCann (The Hound):
Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel):
Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon):
And everyone else (watch out for the immortal line ‘you know nothing Jon Snow’):
The main (surviving) cast of the show, now at the end of their sixth series, are reported to be earning around £300,000 per episode, the International Business Times reports.
If they were ever starving actors looking for their big break and a pay rise, they’ve definitely found it.
