Kylie Jenner has a huge presence on social media, with millions of followers on her accounts – so when she posts something, a lot of people see it.

Recently, there has been a massive uproar over Snapchat’s latest update, prompting an online petition calling for the app to revert back.

Kylie regularly uses Snapchat to post videos and photos of what she’s up to, as well as promoting her make-up brand, was one of the millions left disappointed with the platform’s update.

If you’ve not seen it, the latest redesign has focused on separating ‘media content’ from content shared by ‘friends’ among an array of other interface changes.

‘Snapchat Stories’, which are videos and photos shared among users which vanish after 24 hours, also now appear with individual Snaps and direct messages.

Kylie, last week, tweeted:

Sooo does anyone else not open Snapchat anymore? Or is it just me… ugh this is so sad.

Following her tweets, Snapchat’s worth reportedly dropped by a massive $1.3billion (£1bn).

So where does Facebook come into this?

Well Facebook – which also owns Instagram, another platform which uses ‘stories’ to post live videos and photos – saw its market value rising amid Snap’s decline, according to TMZ.

The site said on February 21, the day of Kylie Jenner‘s tweets, Facebook was worth $516.83bn, which then went up to $519.97bn the following  day, and then went up even higher, to $532.86bn on February 23.

If the new Snapchat update is something you just can’t handle either, there’re some simple-to-follow guidelines out there which’ll show you how to revert back to the old layout.

However Snapchat’s head honchos have warned anyone attempting to do so, could lose memories after logging out of the app.

So you have three options: 1) stop getting in the way of progress and embrace the change, 2) risk it all and go back to the beloved old format or 3) – and this one might shock you – just don’t use the app anymore

Snapchat Support wrote:

Before reinstalling Snapchat or logging out, make sure Memories are backed up or you could lose them Settings > Memories > Backup Progress ‘Complete’ means you’re all set.

If not, tap to see which Snaps need backing up. You’ll also need your password so you can log back in!

The company itself is of the belief they’ll be able to ride this storm out, however, a spokesperson told CNN:

Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.

Probably just go ahead and revert back, Snapchat, it doesn’t look as though it’s blowing over.
