Guy Sued By Sainsbury’s For Shop Name Singhbury’s Changes It To Morrisinghs

Look at this piss-taker. What an inspiration. Here we all are whining about the political climate and how bad 2017 is when this guy is having an absolute riot running a corner shop.

Jel Singh Nagra, from Stockton-On-Tees, named his store ‘Singhsbury’s’ much to the hilarity of himself and hopefully locals. When Sainsbury’s got in touch and threatened legal action, Jel simply changed the name to Morrisinghs instead.

The 42-year-old spent £350 to rename the shop in North Tyneside.

Jel said:

When the first sign went down, the customers kept asking what happened.

While I was away on my honeymoon in September 2012, I got a letter saying that Sainsbury’s was threatening to take me to court.

In the letter they stated how much this would cost. My family saw the letter and took the sign down while I was away because they were so worried.

The shop has been nameless since Jel took down the Singhsbury’s sign in 2012. It was only last week that he got the revamped branding up.

He said:

My customers kept saying I should come up with a similar name, so I had to think of something.

A lot of customers come in here for the banter more than the actual service.

But I do feel that the sign is bringing more business in.

A spokesperson for Sainbury’s recently said they were ‘grateful’ for Jel removing the sign.
