Holocaust Museum’s ‘Warning Signs Of Fascism’ Poster Goes Viral
It’s pretty scary that an ‘Anti-Fascism’ poster has gone viral in this day and age, but after the recent developments in America at the weekend, it worryingly still seems relevant…
The Holocaust is not something we should ever have to consider happening again in our modern lives, however echoes of Nazi Germany’s darkest days seem to be seeping into the present.
The U.S. Holocaust Museum posted this disturbing poster as a ‘warning’ and a reminder of how easy it could be to slip onto a dangerous slope to fascist behaviour and it’s since gone viral, the Daily Dot reports.
A visitor to the museum, Sarah Rose, posted the photo yesterday and in less than 24 hours, it has been retweeted over 120,000 times and liked more than 160,000 times.
The poster is a list of features which apparently identify the disturbing characteristics of fascism and Twitter users were quick to draw parallels between the points and the newly formed administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Accidental or not, Friday was Holocaust memorial day, which Trump chose to ignore and instead declared a ban on Muslim immigrants entering the states from seven majority Muslim countries.
The museum did post a statement regardless, serving as a reminder of the horrific impact left on the world and the devastating effects which are still felt today.
As Elie Wiesel said, Not all victims were Jews, but all Jews were victims.
The Holocaust teaches us profound truths about human societies and our capacity for evil. An accurate understanding of this history is critical if we are to learn its lessons and honour its victims.
People have been retweeting the poster and drawing their own similarities to the events taking place in the world:

It’s sad that we need reminding of these key points in 2017…
All we know is we can’t go back to how things once were, and the Holocaust serves as a sobering reminder of one of humanity’s darkest chapters…
