You might remember a decade ago, when the ‘Evolution of Dance’ took the internet by storm.
A comedian from Ohio, called Judson Laipply, probably didn’t expect to release one of the world’s first viral videos when he uploaded footage of him dancing, on April 6th, 2006.
But that’s exactly what happened when he uploaded the video, simply to pull the embedding code for his MySpace profile (so mid-noughties). Ever since, almost 300 million viewers have had a butch at his legendary dance moves.
Now, to mark the 10th anniversary he’s brought in some songs that were released in the mid-to-late 2000s, to target an audience that might not have recognised all the dances he recreated ten years ago.
Laipply told Inside Edition that he’s targeting a younger generation with this latest video, but it ‘also still has some good stuff in it that the older generation would love.’
The new assortment of moves range from Chuck Berry’s legendary duck walk, Axl Rose’s serpentine slither and whatever the fuck Drake is doing in the ‘Hotline Bling’ video.
He added: “People can say all they want. Whether they like it or they don’t like it, but everybody knows what that is.”
Even Jimmy Fallon has done parodies of his classic video, but now, Laipply is hoping to challenge The Tonight Show host to an Evolution of Dance dance-off.
Speaking to IE.com, he announced: “I’m officially calling Jimmy Fallon out. It’s about time he has the real dancer on.”
Too right it is!
