A Russian woman has been arrested in Egypt for being too provocative while dancing in a nightclub.
Professional belly dancer 31-year-old Ekaterina Andreeva, who goes by the name of Johara while on stage, was dancing for a nightclub audience in Giza, north-western Egypt.
Although the crowd seemed to be loving her moves on the dance-floor, with many joining in dancing with her, the Egyptian authorities were less than impressed.
I don’t know how to call this one COSMIC or GALAXY or STARDUST ??✨?? or??? But this shimmer is definitely right outta space!?and made by talented @polinadcd ! Police officials deemed her display too provocative and soon arrested Andreeva.
As reported by the local daily newspaper al-Masry al-Youm, the authorities accused her of dancing in an outfit that was ‘without shorts’.
The Department of Giza, headed by Counselor Ahmed Attia, began Tuesday its investigations with Ekaterina Andrina, known as ‘Johara’, on charges of incitement to immorality and wearing clothes without shorts.
Tourism police arrested Johara after they saw a video of the dancer wearing a revealing outfit in violation of standards that exposed the charms of her body without shorts.
She also used her hand to point at sensitive parts of her body to stir up the passions of young people.
The investigation of the Arts Police arrested Johara at a club inside a boat on the Nile Corniche in Giza on charges of incitement to immorality and immorality, wearing a dance suit in violation of the authorised specifications of tourism, and not having a permit to work inside the country from the Ministry of Public Power.

Egyptian prosecutor Hatim Fadl added:
Rules for the dance performance oblige the performer to wear underwear of any colour but beige.
Johara did not have any underwear, and of course it was provocative.
Wearing a low-cut backless dress with a split down one side, it appeared that Andreeva wasn’t wearing any underwear and if she did it was of a nude colour.
A friend of Andreeva, known only as Anton, has claimed that the company that hired her is currently working with lawyers to resolve the issue.
Andreeva, who also runs a dance studio in Moscow with her husband, has been released on a bail of 5,000 EGP (£204).
She has also reportedly been temporarily banned from dancing while her case is being reviewed.
Super close-up dancing video lol))) Now imagine: you have to dance like 6-8 songs non-stop in front of big mass of people at little sound-box in 1 square meter size! Everyone is smoking as hell! No steps, no arabesques, no anything wide and showy, stage is very little and unstable and you don’t see the edge cos of flashing lights and smoke. It’s hundreds of people and you have to hold them all somehow all these 6 songs, still looking beautiful and dancing good all the time in just craaazy hot oversmoked place! But you already wet like fish after first 2 minutes of dance!??? Recently I’ve read some bitchy comment on one of my colleagues video, she performed in the same club I danced week ago, someone wrote smth like this: “You don’t dance, only step, go look video THIS and THAT dancer how to dance this song!” Really? Go first try it yourself, smart ass! Really guys, don’t be so mean, before saying something bad about someone’s work go first do it yourself in better way, than we will see. Kisses and hugs for all my sweet friends, thank you for your unstoppable support, I do this all for you! ❤️?❤️ #cairo #egypt #nightlife #bellydancer #joharadancelab #johara #joharabellydancer #blablatime
According to the Express Tribune, the arrest is a part of a ‘morality’ crackdown that is happening on artists across Egypt.
Under President Abdel Fattah al-Sisa, the police have been arresting several dancers using a wide-range of morality laws.
A little-known 21-year-old dancer known as Shyma was sentenced to two years in prison in December over the release of a racy music video.
She was arrested after the video, which showed her licking an apple and appearing to mimic fellatio on a banana, went viral.
Back in 2015 a fellow female dancer was jailed for a year after appearing in a raunchy music video for a song called Let Go of My Hand.
