Elon Musk hits out at Mark Zuckerberg as new Threads app nears 100 million users

Musk has dealt a new insult to the Threads founder

Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are known for having a rivalry - but Musk has taken it to the next level with his latest round of insults.

The Tesla founder is currently peeved with Zuckerberg for launching Threads, considered by many to be Meta's answer to Twitter.

The app shares a lot of similarities with Twitter, allowing users to post, share, like and follow other users, with parent company Meta explaining that the app aims to 'take what Instagram does best and expand that to text'.

It even looks similar to Twitter; a smart move that will ensure new users won't struggle to navigate the platform and makes for an easier transition from Musk's app.

The app currently has close to 100 million signups.

This comes as Musk and Zuckerberg have been teasing that they will face each other down in a cage fight.

And what comes along with a fight if not trash talking?

Musk has gotten things kicked off with some choice words on Twitter - where else?

The insults came after Musk came across screenshots of the Facebook founder laughing when the burger chain mockingly asked Zuckerberg to mimic his rival and go into space.

What did Musk say in response?

"Zuck is a cuck".

Don't you just hate it when somebody insults your space exploration program?

How the other half lives, eh?

For anybody who is not up to speed, a cuck is short for a 'cuckold', which means a man whose wife is unfaithful.

The insult generally implies that the 'cuck' is somebody who enjoys his wife being with other men.

If this bizarre tweet wasn't unusual enough, the South African tycoon followed it up with this tweet: "I propose a literal d**k measuring contest."

The fact that this tweet got over 20,000 likes indicates to me there might be a demand for that, but I won't give anymore thought to it.

However, the showdown continues as Zuckerberg and Musk's bad blood isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Twitter's lawyer, Alex Spiro, didn't mince words when he slammed Threads in a leaked letter.

He wrote: "Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information."

It remains to be seen whether the two social media giants will hash out their differences in a court of law or in a fighting arena.

The latter would obviously be far more entertaining for the rest of us, and that's what matters in the end, right?
