Elon Musk has broken his silence on the launch of the new 'Twitter Killer' app, Threads which has gained a massive 10 million users in under 10 hours according to Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
Not just a rival to Twitter, the new social media network is Instagram's text-based conversation app and launched earlier today (6 July).
It's designed to be a tool for communities to come together and discuss today’s topics and tomorrow’s trends and was dubbed by Instagram as 'a new way to share with text' which will 'shape the future of the internet'.
Twitter owner Elon Musk was quick to pipe up and give his take on the new platform and its success, cryptically tweeting: "It is infinitely preferable to be attacked by strangers on Twitter, than indulge in the false happiness of hide-the-pain Instagram."

He's also tweeted a laughing emoji in response to a post by DogeDesigner saying: "Meta's new app was built entirely using this keyboard," accompanied by a pic of a keyboard that is capable only of Ctrl C and Ctrl V functions - the implication being that Threads is a copy and paste of the Twitter platform.
The comparisons led Zuckerberg to post his first tweet in a decade - the famed Spider-Man pointing at Spider-Man meme.
This is just the latest in Musk's rivalry with Meta CEO Zuckerberg.

In one of his first posts to Threads, Zuckerberg wrote: "Glad you're all here on day one. Let's build something great together!"
Another post laid out Meta's plans for taking Twitter's place as the new digital place for conversation.
He wrote: "It'll take some time, but I think there should be a public conversations app with 1 billion+ people on it.
"Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn't nailed it. Hopefully we will."
Threads was built by the Instagram team, and users can simply log in using their Instagram accounts.

Unlike Twitter's 280-character limit, Threads posts can be up to 500 characters long and can include links, photos, and videos up to five minutes compared to Twitter's two minutes and 20 seconds.
