Halsey Fans Leave Concert After They Shares Abortion Views

People reportedly left the show in Phoenix, Arizona, after the Supreme Court's decision to end the right to an abortion.

A number of Halsey fans who attended a concert in Phoenix, Arizona at the weekend left the venue after the singer expressed pro-choice views.

The concert took place on 26 June at Ak-Chin Pavilion as part of the singer’s Love and Power Tour, which came after the announcement of the widely ridiculed Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v Wade, eliminating a woman’s right to an abortion.

According to Billboard, Halsey, an advocate for women’s health, said at her concert: “Here in Arizona, you guys got to promise me that you’re gonna do that work so that the person to the left of you and to the right of you has that right for the rest of their lives.

Halsey spoke out in support of women's reproductive rights.

"If you don’t like it, you can go home right now — I don’t care.”

She is also said to have led attendees in a 'my body, my choice' chant.

But it seems some disgruntled concertgoers took Halsey’s statement to heart as Fox News reported that many left the venue following the singer's speech.

And to prove this further, one guest later tweeted: “THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO JUST WALKED OUT OF THE HALSEY CONCERT AFTER NIGHTMARE WHEN SHE SPOKE ABOUT ABORTION WAS SICKENING”.

The tweet has since gone viral on the social media platform, with 18,000 likes and 1,155 retweets at the time of writing.

Halsey, however, was unfazed by the guests leaving as she quoted the viral tweet and shared her response to those who left, which itself has garnered 102,000 likes.

Their response reads: “Downside of doing outdoor venues: no door to hit them on the way out.”

The 'Without Me' singer has always been an avid supporter of abortion and reproductive rights. After the Supreme Court ruling sent shockwaves across social media on Friday, the mum-of-one tweeted: “I have been advocating for abortion, reproductive rights, and bodily integrity for as long as I’ve had a platform and I’m running out of ways to word and frame the severity of the impact that fundamentalism has on our country".

One fan replied: “I’m so surprised by that! If you follow Halsey and love Halsey you should know she supports us and will fight for our rights! I don’t get women that aren’t mad about what happened!!!! And if men don’t fight for us then they don’t deserve us!”

A second Twitter user wrote: “How are you gonna be a Halsey fan and be anti-choice? Do they not know anything about Halsey?”

However one person, who described themselves as being ‘pro-choice’ said the people who left were within their rights to do so.

“I am pro choice,” they began. “That being said walking out of a venue because you disagree with the message being delivered is what freedom is all about. They disagreed, they left. That is the type of society we want isn't it?”
