Lance Bass hopes fans will ‘find forgiveness’ for Justin Timberlake amid Britney Spears' memoir release

Lance Bass has called on fans to forgive Justin Timberlake as the backlash continues following the release of Britney Spears memoir.

Lance Bass has weighed in on the ongoing backlash his former band mate Justin Timberlake is facing and called for forgiveness.

Britney Spears’ memoir release this week, The Woman Inside Me, detailed some of the inner workings of her relationship Justin Timberlake, as the pair dated between 1999 and 2002.

Following its release, Timberlake has faced a stern backlash from Spears’ fans. One portion of the memoir that has proven particularly interesting to fans is how Spears terminated her pregnancy while the pair were dating.

"It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day,” Spears wrote in the book.

"This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

Spears also accused Timberlake of cheating on him with a famous woman, however, did not go into more detail as to who this person was as she now had a family of her own.

After speaking to the press while in an airport, Bass said he hopes the pop star's fans can forgive Timberlake, in the same way Spears did.

“Look, I mean everyone has their own opinion,” Bass said addressing the backlash Timberlake is facing.

“I just feel like the world is so full of hate right now that we need to practice a little forgiveness.

“Britney did. So, let’s take a note from her.”

When asked whether Bass had spoken to Timberlake about the memoir, he laughed and said he wouldn’t divulge the conversations he has been having with his friend.

Concluding on the controversy, Bass closed by saying: “Everyone deserves to tell their story, [Britney] did and, you know, I hope the fans can again find some forgiveness.”

Seemingly to limit the ongoing barrage of negative comments from fans, following the release of Spears’ memoir, Timberlake turned off the Instagram comments on his page.

Timberlake has not reached out to Britney about the memoir, however, according to a source close to Spears who spoke to the Daily Mail about the book’s release.

“Justin has not reached out to Britney at all about any of this and he is not going to because there is nothing he can say to her,” the source said.

“She was there and is just telling it from her point of view.”

UNILAD has contacted Timberlake's reps for comment.
