Mean Girls movie removes joke after Lindsay Lohan was left 'hurt and disappointed' by it

The actress was left 'hurt and upset' after throwback joke included in the film about her past, but it has since been cut from the movie

A joke in the new Mean Girls movie has been removed after Lindsay Lohan said she was 'hurt and disappointed by it'.

The one-liner was delivered from Megan Thee Stallion as she made her cameo in the highly-anticipated movie, but it sparked backlash from Lohan as she said she was offended by the throwback one-liner.

The line has since been cut from some of the digital versions of the comedy-musical movie.

Thee Stallion's cameo was reviewed by USA Today after it purchased the digital version from Amazon, and was found to have been cut short in comparison to the original version.

In the TikTok-esc video in which she appears, the rapper shouts: "So somebody sent me this look, and I was like, 'OK you know what? Hot girls, we are going (to) back red!"

"Y2K fire crotch is back!" she added in the original version of the film, but it's this line which has since been cut from the scene after Lindsay made her disappointment known.

Lohan will forever be known by many for playing African-born Cady Heron in the OG Mean Girls, a sheltered girl who quickly becomes part of the clique known as The Plastics when attending an American high school.

While Heron was played by Angourie Rice in the latest movie, Lohan did make a surprise appearance at the end of the movie to fans' nostalgic excitement.

The Parent Trap actor revealed her disappointment after hearing the joke delivered on screen as a throwback to 2006.

It came from a paparazzi video of Paris Hilton's pal Brandon Davis calling Lohan a 'fire crotch' as Paris giggled while following him.

Davis then donned a t-shirt with the words 'Team fire crotch' on it in front of paparazzi.

The 'fire crotch' comment caught on within Hollywood and press, and it seemed the unflattering, offensive, nickname is still clearly a sore spot for the actress, which makes sense.

In a statement shared with outlets such as E! News and People several days after the movie was released in theaters, a representative for Lohan said: "Lindsay was very hurt and disappointed by the reference in the film."

As for the Mean Girls remake, it has a respectable 70 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but that's well below the originals 84 percent.

Sometimes it's impossible to improve upon a classic.
