Selena Gomez goes viral for her reaction to Chris Brown being nominated for an MTV VMA

The 'Single Soon' singer kept it calm as she showed pure disinterest in the nomination

Selena Gomez is going viral for her reaction to Chris Brown being nominated for an MTV Video Music Award (VMA).

The ‘Single Soon’ singer didn’t hide her feelings to the star’s name being read out for his nomination tonight.

Chlöe is nominated for the Best R&B VMA for her track ‘How Does it Feel’, featuring Brown.

And Gomez didn’t look too impressed when she heard the rapper’s name.

In the viral video, the 'Single Soon' turns up her nose and scrunches her face in what seems to be total disinterest, compared to her happy smiles and claps for the other nominees tonight.

In 2009, Brown was charged with felony assault and making criminal threats after physically assaulting Rihanna.

The ‘Diamonds’ singer was left with visible facial injuries and was hospitalized due to her then-boyfriend.

As well as him having to complete domestic violence counselling and community labor, Rihanna eventually had a restraining order against him.

Selena didn't hide her reaction.

Brown has faced a number of assault accusations from women over the years.

There’s no confirmation for why exactly Gomez reacted like this to Brown’s name but he is often the center of controversy.

One user wrote on X: “I would’ve reacted the same way. Chris Brown shouldn’t be eligible for any awards.”

Another put: “Exactly, she’s so real.”

Others said: “She represents all of us,” and “As she should.”

One also added: “Queen I love her.”

However, some said Gomez was being ‘disrespectful’.

SZA ended up scooping up the award for her song ‘Shirt’, after having a mega six nominations tonight.

She's the second-most nominated artist after Taylor Swift, who has so far scooped up the VMAs for Best Pop and Song of the Year with 'Anti-Hero'.

Gomez is up for awards tonight alongside Rema for their song 'Calm Down'.
