Beyoncé clip goes viral as it's blamed for reason why singer rarely does interviews now

Destiny's Child was asked about the foot-and-mouth epidemic in 2001

If you knew nothing about the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak in the UK, then fear not - Beyoncé didn't either.

The 'Love On Top' hitmaker was still part of Destiny's Child at the time, alongside her bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

The trio flew to London for the BRIT Awards and, as you'd expect, hit the red carpet ahead of the festivities.

They were then interviewed by someone from ITN and, rather than just asking them about music, hit them with a current affairs question about the UK.

"What do you think the government should be doing about the foot-and-mouth epidemic?" he said.

The disease saw over six million cows and sheep killed in a bid to halt it from spreading any further.

A then-19-year-old Beyoncé replied: "We don't know anything about that.

"All we know is, we just got here."

The reporter then proceeded to mansplain what the outbreak was.

"Oh, the thing about the four-legged animals?" Beyoncé went on to say before Michelle interjected with a slightly more educated answer.

"I watched that on the news and I feel really, really bad - we all feel really bad," she said.

"Any thoughts?" the interviewer further pried as he looped back to his original question.

"Some tests should be run so this can stop," Kelly replied.

The decades-old interview has been doing the rounds on social media of late, sparking some to question if the chat is one of the reasons Beyoncé doesn't do that many interviews anymore.

"This is why Beyoncé don't talk anymore. she just entertain [sic]," claimed one person on TikTok.

Another person added: "The reason why she stopped doing interviews HELP."

But others hit out at the reporter who asked the question which was completely unrelated to the BRITs.

"Why did he even ask this question?!" commented one person.

"So weird that they asked them that," said a second.

"They are singers not scientists."

"Ain’t no way they asked them that at an awards show," continued another.

But dozens of others simply found the clip entertaining and chuckled at Beyoncé's 'real' response.

Someone said of the songstress: "WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABT THAT!!!! she's so real [sic]."

"This clip sends me every time I see it," added another with a string of laughing face emojis.

In Bey's defense, I don't think many 19-year-old's had foot-and-mouth disease at the forefront of their mind's in 2001 either.
