Chris Hemsworth thinks Thor may die in his next MCU movie

Chris Hemsworth believes his next Marvel outing as Thor might be his last

Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he thinks his character Thor could die in the next Marvel movie, adding it might be time to ‘close the book’ on the superhero. Here's the trailer for the last one, if you've not already seen it.

Hemsworth has played the God of Thunder some 11 times, and seems to think it might be time for him to hang up the hammer.

Thor is the only Marvel character to have had four standalone films, and he’s been in all of the various Avengers flicks as well, so it’s understandable that Hemsworth might be a bit tired of the whole thing.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth said: "I feel like we'd probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that,

"I feel like it'd probably be the finale, but that's not based on anything anyone's told me or any sort of plans.

“You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don't know — am I at that stage? Who knows?"

Well, what we do know is that there will be two more Avengers movies at least – entitled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

They’ll be finding their way into cinemas in 2025, along with a raft of other new Marvel films.

And while we haven’t had confirmation of a third Black Panther film, the success of the first film and the new Wakanda Forever movie almost guarantees that as a certainty.

In a recent interview, producer Nate Moore said that both he and director Ryan Coogler wanted to see how the second film went down before deciding on whether they’d make a third.

Moore said: "That's a great question. To be honest, this is not me trying to not answer the question,

"We really want to see how audiences receive the film, and I think Ryan's really interested to see how the film plays before we decide.

“There are certainly ideas we've floated around of what a third film could be if we get to make it. But until the movie comes out, we're a bit superstitious in that way.

“We don't want to count our chickens, because you never know what's going to happen."

Are we set to witness the end of Thor?

As for Thor, we’ll see him again, but it might be for the last time if it’s a standalone film.
