The movie stars an actor from Lord of the Rings and another from Leave the World Behind.

Netflix users are flocking to social media over 'brilliant' film recently added to the platform.

Written by Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie and Peter Farrelly, and directed by Farrelly, the biographical comedy-drama is inspired by the true story of African-American pianist Don Shirley and Frank 'Tony Lip' Vallenlonga, an Italian-American actor and bouncer who was hired as Shirley's bodyguard and driver in the early 1960s.

The movie sees the pair tour across the Midwest and Deep South in 1962 and as well as documenting their physical journey, it reveals their path from a professional to more personal relationship, as an unlikely friendship forms.

Starring Lord of the Rings' Viggo Mortensen and Leave the World Behind's Mahershala Ali, the cast also includes the likes of Dead to Me star Linda Cardellini and The Super Mario Bros. Movie's Sebastian Maniscalco.

And while it was first released back in 2018, hype has seriously picked up around the film since it's been added to Netflix. Prepare to immediately add the film to your 'to watch' list:

Since the movie - titled Green Book - was released onto Netflix earlier this month, viewers have flooded to X (formerly Twitter) to weigh in.

One user said: "Netflix has just informed me that Green Book is now on Netflix so that’s my Friday night sorted! Brilliant film if you haven’t seen it."

"Green Book on @Netflix - great movie, absolutely worth watching. Comical, powerful story based on true events. 10/10," another added.

A third commented: "Just watched The Green Book on Netflix. Beautiful, funny and horrifying at the same time. A must watch."

A fourth added: "Green Book is such a beautiful film and the fact it’s based on a true story is even more beautiful . Only just came across it on Netflix the other day, good watch."

And a fifth resolved: "Just watched the film on Netflix Green Book … best film I’ve watched in a long long time."

It's certainly not hard to see why the movie has achieved an impressive audience score of 91 percent and certifiably fresh Tomatometer score of 77 percent over on Rotten Tomatoes.

So, clear your schedule tonight, buy some snacks and settle on down.
