A new Netflix limited series has debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with an incredible Tomatometer score of 95 percent.
Over the past five years, streaming platform subscribers have had the chance to feast on a host of stunning horror shows from the mind of Mike Flanagan.
In 2018, supernatural drama The Haunting of Hill House was released, and two years later viewers were treated to the second entry to Flanagan’s anthology series - The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Last year, the 45-year-old showrunner put out The Midnight Club, and now fans are gearing up for the release of a new gothic horror drama series - The Fall of the House of Usher.

Based on the book of the same name, and other works by macabre-enthusiast Edgar Allen Poe, the series stars Carla Gugino, Star Wars’ Mark Hamill and Kate Siegel, amongst others.

As per Netflix, the limited series’ synopsis reads: “To secure their fortune - and future - two ruthless siblings build a family dynasty that begins to crumble when their heirs mysteriously die, one by one.”
Ahead of The Fall of the House of Usher’s release on Thursday, 12 October, TV critics have been posting their thoughts across respected review site, Rotten Tomatoes.
At the time of writing, there are 41 reviews for Flanagan’s new horror and it is has a certified Fresh rating of 95 percent.
Following their viewing the series, a reporter from Vanity Fair wrote: “By the end of House of Usher, we feel we have made our way through something dense and rich.

“This is not flimsy, forgettable TV. Flanagan’s ardent belief in the power of monologue and melodrama, of complex storytelling and florid style, is infectious.”
Elsewhere, a representative from The Hollywood Reporter wrote: “Half creative writing project tied to a freshman seminar on Edgar Allan Poe, half horror-filled karmic catharsis, Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher is a bluntly entertaining exercise.”
While the series is receiving praise, this isn’t the first time that we’ve seen an adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher, which was originally published in Burton’s Gentleman’s Magazine in 1839.

Back in 1960, Roger Corman directed the gothic horror film starring Vincent Price as Roderick Usher, and Myrna Fahey as Madeline Usher.
Dubbed American International Pictures’ 'most ambitious film to date', the movie currently holds a slightly lower Rotten Tomatoes score of 84 percent.
However, back to the present day, and fans of Flanagan and horror fanatics alike have taken to social media to share their excitement for the updated version of the harrowing tale.

One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote: “This cast is going to absoluely take my breath away, I can just feel it in my bones.”
A second said: “Exciting news! Can't wait for 'The Fall of the House of Usher' premiering on October 12. Mike Flanagan always delivers top-notch horror.”
“The ultimate Halloween highlight this year,” commented another.
