Viewers call for ‘mind-blowing’ series to be revived by Netflix after it begins climbing the chart

Netflix viewers are flooding to social media to demand it bring back an unexpectedly cancelled series.

An HBO Max - now rebranded as just Max - series may've been cancelled, but that hasn't stopped it from climbing the charts over on Netflix - the streaming service having won a co-exclusive deal with Max for the series.

And so obsessed are viewers, they're now calling for Netflix to step in and take over the series to revive it.

Max

The martial arts crime drama - created by Jonathan Tropper, but based on an original concept by Bruce Lee - actually first premiered on Cinemax in April 2019, however three years later after its third season was announced it was confirmed to be moving over to Max.

Alas, after three seasons Max revealed it would be grinding the series to a halt.

This month saw the series - which stars the likes of Bullet Train's Andrew Koji, Marco Polo One Hundred Eyes' Olivia Cheng and Fistful of Vengeance's Jason Tobin - head on over onto Netflix and despite it having been refused a fourth season on Max, Netflix users are loving it so much they're calling for it to order another season of the drama.

The series - titled Warrior - centres around a martial arts expert who arrived in San Francisco from China in the 19th-century. You can watch the trailer here:

There, he joins a 'powerful crime family' and ends up head-to-head with rival gangs from Chinatown.

And users are begging out for more of the action on X (formerly Twitter).

Replying to another tweet by Netflix, a user said: "How about Warrior season 4? You got a really great show on your hands and theres no reason not to keep it going.

"The untapped potential in that show is ridiculous. Theres so many ways you could go and if you just find the right idea its easily a #1 hit for multiple seasons."

"Come on you got to renew Warrior for a season 4!!! You won't regret it!" another added.

A third user said: "Glad to see everyone else loves #Warrior as much as I do! Lets get this show a season 4 @netflix."

A fourth resolved: "Hopefully Warrior gets picked up by Netflix. Don't let it end this way lmao."

Max

The response to Warrior has fulfilled the hopes of executive producer Shannon Lee - Bruce Lee's daughter - who previously told Deadline: "If anything can be said about Warrior, with Bruce Lee in our corner, our indomitable spirit is REAL! "And so, my wish is that the huge global Netflix audience LOVES Warrior and from that Love more goodness flows – in the form of greater recognition for our talented cast and crew who deserve all the things, in the form of passionate fandom for this relevant kick ass show and, if I dare to dream, in the form of an opportunity to continue our story for our amazing fans who, thanks to Netflix, will have grown in number and enthusiasm!"

And hopefully as Tropper noted, the show indeed proves itself as one that 'simply refuses to die'.
