New Stranger Things Billboard Hints At Major Death In Season 4

Let's just say this character's death would be a massive blow to the fans

Stranger Things fans have been left reeling after Netflix put up a billboard hinting at a major character's death.

Part two of the hit sci-fi show's fourth season is set to drop tomorrow, 1 July, and there are plenty of theories floating around about what's in store – especially after creators Matt and Ross Duffer told Empire that things 'might not go well' for the characters.

One thing we don't need to be concerned about is the fate of Nancy (Natalia Dyer), as Netflix recently shared some first-look photos, including one of her and the gang planning their fight against the evils of Hawkins.

Nancy is reunited with the Hawkins gang in volume two.

But at the end of volume one, you'll remember that Nancy was pulled under the nightmarish spell of this season's big bad Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and was left trapped in the Upside Down.

As for how she escapes is anyone's guess, but some people fear Steve (Joe Keery) will sacrifice himself to save his former girlfriend.

It truly would be a devastating outcome, and Netflix only seemed to add to the fans' concerns by sharing a picture of a giant billboard that reads: "Protect Steve."

This could also mean that Steve experiences a brush with death, and for now all we can do is wait until the episodes drop on Friday.

But that hasn't stopped viewers at home from begging the streamer to do as the billboard says.

Among the thousands of comments, one person wrote: "If you’re tweeting this to make me THINK he will survive and he doesn’t y’all WILL have to hear from me until Vecna gets me himself!! I'm so serious too."

Another said, "If Steve dies, I'm dropping this show. Otherwise you can literally anyone else of the young adult cast," while a third added, "If Steve dies you will be hearing from my legal team."

Others offered up the characters they'd rather see go if it means Steve can stay, including this person who commented: "I've said this before (not on Twitter) that Mike should be the one to die. His character's been pretty useless this season and in previous ones, it would provide motivation for El, and it'd protect Steve."

Another agreed, writing: "Take Mike instead pls."

Whether any of our mainstays will meet their end is yet to be seen, but it wouldn't be a Stranger Things season finale without a climactic confrontation. Only one more sleep until we find out, folks...

The final two episodes of Stranger Things season four will be available to stream on Netflix on 1 July.
