Tim Allen shares ambitious plot idea for upcoming Toy Story sequel

Toy Story 5 was officially announced by Disney earlier this year

Tim Allen has shared his ambitious plot idea for the upcoming Toy Story sequel that is sure to make fans excited.

Earlier this year, Disney announced the beloved franchise would be making a return with a fifth instalment.

During Disney's earnings call back in February, CEO Bob Iger explained that they will be resurrecting some of the biggest titles in the company's history.

“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia," he said, according to Collider and Deadline.

“We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivalled brands and franchises.”

While many didn't expect it after the conclusion of Toy Story 4, it was announced in the summer that Woody and Buzz Lightyear would be returning - a move that certainly divided fans.

Though it hasn't officially been confirmed that Tim Allen's Buzz and Tom Hanks' Woody will be back as the main stars.

Aside from that, not much more has been revealed surrounding Toy Story 5, as fans itch for more information.

Allen has been doing the media rounds recently to promote season two of The Santa Clauses.

In an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Allen was asked about what he would like to see from Toy Story 5.

It should be worth noting that the actor is not part of the writing process, so the decision of direction is not up to him.

Allen admitted that he wants to see the franchise go full circle by following an adult Andy. He said he wants to see Andy go on a mission to track down the lost toys, so he can pass them down to his kids.

Allen explained: "I don't know this is where the story's going, but what if the whole story was through... Andy is an adult, has children, and they just happen to be online, [and] the kid goes, 'Have you ever seen this toy?' And Andy sees that Buzz has got a hand missing, and he's in a... they're selling these vintage toys. And Andy goes and gathers all the toys up. "

He continued: "He has to go out and find each one of them, put them back together, bring them back to his house, and starts the whole thing over again with his son. And I said, 'What a wonderful idea is that he brings it [back]. It's all through Andy's eyes, because we made his life, and now he's returning that favor."

Toy Story 5 is yet to reach the production stage so it will certainly be a few years before we see it hit the big screen.
