Seven Charged Over Robbery On Set Of Netflix Heist Series

Omar Sy and crew were attacked by people in hoods while filming Netflix's Lupin in Paris

Seven people have been charged over a robbery from Netflix's Lupin film set.

Star of the heist series Omar Sy along with TV crew members were filming in the Parisian suburb of Nanterre on 25 February for part three of the series.

However, while on set, they were attacked by about 20 hooded people, reports The Guardian.

The robbers launched fireworks, which were directed at the crew, and were said to have stole £250,000 (€300,000) worth of equipment.

None of the cast or crew on set were injured.

Agence France-Presse reports that the seven accused are said to be aged between 13 and 21.

They now face armed robbery charges as part of an organised gang along with receiving stolen goods.

Three of those involved are being held in custody, while four are under judicial supervision. Officials are still searching for the other youth members on the run.

A source who was reportedly close to the investigation told AFP that the gang were known to police prior to the incident.

"There was an incident on 25th February whilst filming the upcoming season of Lupin," Netflix said in a statement at the time. "Our cast and crew are safe and there were no injuries."

It's being said that some of the equipment has been recovered and filming was briefly paused.

The show itself is about thieving and stars Omar Sy as a Senegalese Frenchman named Assane Diop, who adopts the persona of Lupin while investigating a conspiracy that seemed to have led to his father’s suicide.

French actress Ludivine Sagnier stars alongside Sy as his character’s ex-wife Claire, who is pulled into the drama as it culminates in the season one finale that sees Assane travel to Étretat, France, with Claire and their 14-year-old son Raoul.

The synopsis reads: "A retelling of the classic French story about Arsène Lupin, the world-famous gentleman thief and master of disguise."

The critically acclaimed French show has 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and a solid 7.5 on IMDb.

Lupin Part 1 and Part 2 are available to stream on Netflix now
