Ariana Grande is back with her first new song in three years, and the events of her break seem to have inspired some of her lyrics.
In the time since Grande released her album Positions in 2020, she has been working to help bring to life a movie adaptation of the musical Wicked, in which she plays a witch named Glinda.
Romantically, the singer has most recently been linked to her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater after splitting up from her husband, Dalton Gomez.

News Grande and Slater's relationship broke just days after the news of the singer's divorce, sparking speculation that there may have been some overlap between Grande's partners.
Slater himself filed for divorce in the same month that his relationship with Grande came to light.
The rumors surrounding their romance prompted one of her close family friends to tell People: "People have tried to question the timeline."
The friend claimed that 'Ariana and Ethan didn’t begin seeing each other until after both parties were separated, respectfully', but Grande has now pointed out that her personal life is exactly that - personal.
She made the point in her new song, titled 'Yes, And?', which was released as a single today (January 12) ahead of an upcoming album.

In the track, Grande sings: "Your business is yours, and mine is mine. Why do you care so much whose d**k I ride?”
Elsewhere in the track, Grande says she's 'so done with caring' what people think, adding: "I won't hide / Underneath your own projections / Or change my most authentic life."
The lyrics sparked shock and praise from Grande's fans, with one quoting the song and adding: "ARIANA GRANDE OMG ENDED EVERONE [sic]."
"Truly iconic way to answer the rumors," another wrote.
The source close to Grande insisted that the singer's relationship with Slater was 'much different than what has been portrayed in public'.

After news of their romance came to light, the pair were spotted together at a Disney park in Florida.
"[They are] really happy and really good for each other," a source told People at the time.
Grande and Gomez finalized their divorce in October 2023 after citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for their split.
The pair confirmed their romance in 2020 and announced their engagement in December of the same year.

They married in May 2021 in a 'tiny and intimate' ceremony in front of less than 20 people.
