Customer attacks Subway worker with sandwich for not cutting footlong in half

Talk about a bad day at the office

A Subway customer wasn't pleased when a member staff didn't cut his sandwich in half.

Alberto De Barros visited a Florida-based sandwich shop last week and was ultimately arrested for his alleged reaction to Subway employee Cassandra Tia Pierre-Louis not cutting up his sandwich for him.

De Barros, 54, is accused of having started an argument with Pierre-Louis and causing a 'disruptive scene'.

She then refused to serve him and, he allegedly threatened to call the manager.

During the phone call, De Barros is said to have thrown his sandwich at Pierre-Louis, with the baguette hitting her stomach.

She proceed to film the 54-year-old and took down his license plate as he left the scene.

Police went on to track De Barros down, but he claimed that he thought he'd hit the sandwich counter with the sandwich - not Pierre-Louis.

The man was arrested following the ordeal.
Martin County Sheriff’s Office

However, security footage shows the sandwich hitting the employee and he was charged with battery.

De Barros was later released from Martin County Jail, Stuart on a $1,000 bond and his next appearance has been scheduled for February 1.

While this guy was seemingly outraged at his sandwich not being cut in half, another Subway customer has hit out at its prices.

A TikToker, who goes by the username @beefinnagain on the video-sharing platform, explained that she had a coupon for $12.99 for two foot-long sandwiches.

Her server tallied up the cost of the two sandwiches and, before he redeemed her voucher, the order would have reportedly cost her an eye-watering $33.

"Is that even legal?" the woman asked, adding that she would have 'walked out' if she didn't have the coupon.

Other TikTok users were equally as surprised at the price.

One user said: "$33 at subway should get you three foot longs, three chips, and three drinks."

Another claimed: "Yes!!!! I went the other day it was $17 - they’re on my do not fly list."

A third wrote: "At this point who's even leaving the house anymore? Everything is so expensive."

Indeed, according to the Fast Food Menu Prices website's page 'Subway Menu Prices' - last updated November 2023 - the prices listed don't quite match up with the TikToker's reporting of a $33 bill for two footlongs.

According to the page, the most expensive footlong on the menu is currently the Ultimate Steak or the Turkey and Bacon Guacamole - both coming in at $11.49.

Subsequently, even if the TikToker bought two of those, the total would come to $22.98 not $33.
