People divided over man's unusual $1 Subway hack

If you're hoping to get a footlong loaf on the cheap, you might want to try this trick.

Some days, all you want is a light bite on the cheap, but where would you go to satisfy your bread-y craving?

It turns all you have to do is pop into your local Subway store and it’ll only cost you a dollar. Well, allegedly, we'll get to that.

One customer went online to share how he found out he could buy a footlong bread for so little, and people were torn about whether it’s a hack or a flop.

TikTok user @tretreweewee shared a six-second clip featuring himself chowing down on the only bread you should be purchasing at Subway, the Italian Herbs & Cheese.

Weirdly, this footlong bread loaf apparently cost him a mere dollar

"Me after finding out a loaf of bread at Subway costs one dollar," he wrote on the video with the caption, "This is the greatest thing to ever happen."

But the comments were torn about his find as those who had worked for or still worked at Subway said they aren’t allowed to sell the bread for a dollar and that it was policy.

One person wrote: “As a former employee, we aren’t SUPPOSED to sell them (it’s not in the system) but most Subway workers are chill.”

A second person confirmed: “The Subway I work at most definitely would not let me sell that for $1, even if it’s just the bread.”

But others were a little more lax on the rules: “Not true we have to ring it up as a veggie delight.”

Though, a veggie delight is more than one dollar.

However, the TikToker was quick to explain to his viewers how he was able to get such a bargain on the sly.

Tre bought his footlong for 1 dollar.

He wrote: “His boss said to ring it up as a cookie.”

Though Tre must have chosen the right restaurant location because others were disappointed to find that it didn’t work for them.

One user claimed: “No bc one time I tried to buy a [loaf] and they said it’d be the same price as a sandwich.”

Another stated: “I went to Subway and they told me if I want the bread I’d have to pay the full price of a sandwich.”

So, can you actually buy a loaf of bread as it’s not a menu item?

Well, you could if you ask for a normal sandwich without any of the toppings, but you’re likely to be charged full price anyway.

Or some outlets might charge you for a veggie delight, or even the gluten-free bread. But it’s unlikely that you’ll have the same luck as Tre as the comments have confirmed.

If you’re hoping to go and buy some Italian herb bread, you might have an easier time just buying their cheese toasted bread instead.
