Pornhub has shut down access in the state of Virginia to protest a new age verification law introduced in the US region.
Of course, you have to be 18 to access adult content, though many have questioned over the years how easy it is for minors to access pornographic content.
As a result, some US states have passed new legislation in recent months that means it is more difficult for children to be able to watch porn.

In May, the state of Utah added tighter restrictions on watching pornography, while a similar law was easily passed by the Virginia state legislature and signed off by Gov. Glenn Youngkin in May.
"The governor remains committed to protecting Virginia’s children from dangerous material on the internet," a rep for the governor said.
However, like Pornhub did in Utah, they have now decided to remove their site from all hoping to access it in the state of Virginia.

Regular porn watchers in Virginia are now met with a screen they are not exactly looking for as they boot up the site.
They are instantly greeted by longtime porn star Cherie DeVill, who delivered a rather long message to users.
"As you may know, your elected officials in Virginia are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website,” DeVille said, as per the Virginia Pilot.
"While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, giving your ID card every time you want to visit an adult platform is not the most effective solution for protecting our users, and in fact, will put children and your privacy at risk."

Pornhub are arguing the new law has fair too many loopholes, before saying their current system “to identify users by their device and allow access to age-restricted materials and websites based on that identification” was much better.
"As we’ve seen in other states, [requiring ID] just drives traffic to sites with far fewer safety measures in place. Very few sites are able to compare to the robust Trust and Safety measures we currently have in place," the adult site's statement continued.
"To protect children and user privacy, any legislation must be enforced against all platforms offering adult content."

Some porn users in Virgina have flocked to social media to discuss PornHub's removal, with Virginia State Senator L. Louise Lucas hilariously writing: "Is anyone else’s Pornhub not working?
"I told you all I am not your typical grandma!"
