You were only ever good at one - bay parking or reverse parking. And heaven forbid you got to your car and found you'd been penned in either side? Well, you would simply walk away and come back another day, knowing you'd be going nowhere.

However, one fearless and skilled New York driver decided they wouldn't back down, getting behind the wheel and facing the tight squeeze head on. Prepare to wince in anticipation:

The video shows a driver from Brooklyn, New York getting into his silver car which is wedged in between a white vehicle on the left and a black car on the right.

As he approaches his car, he can see just how badly it's been penned in by other vehicles either side, but instead of having a breakdown, dissolving into tears and resolving to never travel by car again like I would, the man laughs and hops on in - ready to take on the challenge.

The space between the car and the other vehicles is minuscule and it's almost painful to watch as the silver car edges forward and back, its wheels twisting and turning, to try and get out of the ridiculously, tight squeeze.

The driver even attracts random people off the street who watch in awe as he completes the feat - aided by one man who's telling him how far forward and back he can go - the answer: it looks like mere centimetres.

You can barely see a gap between the cars.

But, eventually, after around two minutes of maneuvering, as well as stopping to help other people with the ticket machine, he's done it.

And people are flocking to social media in utter awe of the driver's skill.

One YouTube user said: "Life skills they never taught me in school."

"Anyone else faced with this on returning to their parked car would be fuming with rage.......THIS guy laughs and proceeds to edge it out inch at a time without touching either car. Incredible patience and driving skill!!" Another wrote.

A third commented: "Give that man a Driver’s License with distinction for parallel UNparking."

And a fourth resolved: "And that's how you succeed in life too, inch by inch, lo and behold, with patience. This was a life lesson not a driving skill. Thank you, sir."
