Three years on from the game console's initial release, Sony is vying for a spot on Christmas lists with another PlayStation 5.
If you already bagged yourself one the first time round, well, the new version has some key differences.
On October 10, Sony confirmed it was launching the latest PS5 model.

The new, slimmer, PS5 model will be available in November in the US for select local retailers and direct.playstation.com, where available. Across the rest of the world, gamers will have to keep an eye out for its release in the following months.
Despite months of speculation referring to the console as the 'PS5 Slim', Sony has not yet adopted the name.
Sony also confirmed that once the current stock of the current PS5 model is sold out, the latest slim model will become the only model available.

One of the most notable differences is the ability for players to buy a disc drive add-on rather than being forced to make the grueling decision on whether to purchase the digital or disc PS5 version.
“If you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition, you can add the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5 later, as it will also be sold separately,” Sony said in its press release.
The add-on drive is expected to retail for $79.99 or £99.99 in their respective countries. Gamers can also buy the digital version of the new PS5 model with the add-on disc drive already attached.
Another significant difference is the new PS5 model has had its volume reduced by more than 30 percent and weight by 18 percent and 24 percent. This is an expected change, as Sony has released slimmer and lighter models of their consoles years after their initial release for previous generations.

The latest PS5 iteration will also boast more storage space on both its disc and digital models compared to the current versions.
The new models will exceed the current limitations of 825 GB SSD as 1 TB SSD is set to become the new standard, a welcome change as the size of game files appears to be only getting larger.
Unfortunately, there is no change in price for the console as a whole, so fans can still expect to shell out plenty of cash to play some of the latest next gen games.
In the US, the PS5 digital edition is expected to retail at $449.99 and the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will cost $499.99.

In Europe, the PS5 digital edition is set to cost €449.99 and the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will cost €549.99.
In the UK, the PS5 digital edition will cost £389.99, while the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will cost £479.99.
The PS5’s power also doesn’t appear to be getting a revamp as the new console is set to maintain the current CPU, GPU and RAM standards.

Sony also confirmed that a horizontal stand will be including in all versions of the PS5, however a new vertical stand will be sold separately. Players can also expect a variety of new PS5 console covers in the new year.
