Motocross star Jayden Archer dies while attempting 'world's most dangerous trick'

He was the first-ever motocross rider to complete a triple backflip in competition

Motocross rider Jayden Archer has died at the age of 27.

Archer, who was known as 'Jayo' to those close to him, found worldwide fame after becoming the first-ever motocross rider to complete a triple backflip in competition.

He landed his history-making trick at the Nitro World Games in Brisbane, Australia, in 2022.

Archer had been part of the Nitro Circus crew for over a decade, over the course of which he won two medals at the X Games.

He'd been planning to do the first ever quadruple backflip before his death.

It's believed Archer died during a training practice in his home town of Brisbane yesterday (February 21).

Nitro Circus have penned a moving tribute to the late 27-year-old in the wake of his ultimately death.

"The Nitro Circus family is mourning the loss of Jayo Archer," it began. "Jayo was the epitome of passion, hard work and determination.

"He pushed what was possible on a dirt bike to heights never seen before.

"A positive influence to those around him. And above all else, a great human being and friend to us all."

Elsewhere, Nitro Circus founder Travis Pastrana said to ESPN: "This really hit home. Jayo grew up in a time when action sports was at its biggest, and he always wanted to do the big stuff like the double and the triple, even though there weren't a lot of places to showcase those bigger tricks."

Fellow motocross rider Harry Bink has also expressed his sadness at the news of Archer's death.

Taking to Instagram, he wrote: "Jayo lit up every room he walked into with his energy and his good values.

"He wasn’t scared of much and I really admire him for it … I don’t think even Jayo even knows how much we are all going to miss him."

Archer was engaged to his girlfriend Beth King, whom he proposed to in 2022.

Jayden and Beth were engaged to be married.

It's believed the pair were going to wed this year.

King is yet to issue a statement on her husband-to-be's devastating death, but took to her Instagram Story to share a reel of Archer.

"My beautiful, beautiful boy," she penned alongside it with a crying face emoji.

In a social media post shared to Archer's Instagram in recent weeks, he hailed King as his 'best friend' and 'partner in crime' in a sweet birthday tribute.

"I’m so lucky to have you!! Cheers for replying to those Facebook messages from me all those years ago," he wrote at the time.
