Kansas City Chiefs win all-time classic Super Bowl with historic overtime game

This year's Super Bowl winner has been revealed

The Kansas City Chiefs have been crowned this year's Super Bowl LVIII winners.

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head tonight (February 11) in the hopes of taking home the Super Bowl trophy.

The Chiefs have won the highly sought after football trophy three times before; most recently being last year when they proved victorious against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have won a total of five Super Bowls in its history, with their first big win being 1981.

The 49ers appeared to have it in the bag early on in tonight game and long held a 10 point lead over their opponents, but the Chiefs eventually came back with a vengeance - ultimately leading to the game going to overtime as both teams ended on 19 points.

This is only the second time in the Super Bowl's history that a game has gone to overtime; the first time being at Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons in 2016.

And Chiefs' hard work paid off tonight as they successfully defended their Super Bowl title and take home the trophy again.

People have since shared their reactions to the Chiefs' win online.

"Oh my God I’m f**king crying," one football fan tweeted. "The Chiefs won."

"What a game. Niners played extremely well. But Mahommes, Kelce... Just wow. #SuperBowl," said a second.

A different person wrote: "Hell of a game #SuperBowl. Both teams should be proud, but only one winner. Congrats to the @Chiefs for a hell of a win! @49ers don't sell yourselves short. Next year is a new year!!!"

Speaking in an interview following their win, Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes gushed: "I've got to give God the glory, man.

"He challenged us to be better and I'm proud of my guys. This is awesome. It's legendary."

Taylor Swift was of course on hand to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce on his big night, despite being in Tokyo, Japan, just a day ago.

Swift was spotted in the stands with Blake Lively and Ice Spice, as well as Kelce's family.

At one point, Swift was seen chugging a beer as the crowd cheered her on.

Away from the 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker, another A-lister who will be pleased with the Chiefs' win is Drake, who put a whopping $1.15 million bet on them winning.

Their success will have landed the rapper with a $2.3 million payout.
