Insane amount it costs to advertise on Las Vegas Sphere during Super Bowl week

The price more than quadruples

Advertising on the Las Vegas Sphere during Super Bowl week is a brilliant idea... if you've got the money to fund it.

Ahead of the year's biggest football event, the Sphere has been boasting some impressive graphics as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Fransisco 49ers prepare to go head-to-head on February 11 at Las Vegas Raiders' Allegiant Stadium.

In a video shared on the official NFL X account, the Sphere could be seen with huge Super Bowl ad that was probably bright enough to see from space.

Okay, space might be a push - but the $2.3 billion building can actually be seen from a plane.

The Sphere stands at a whopping 366 feet tall with an exterior sizing 580,000 square feet and boasts 1.2 million LED lights.

With the Super Bowl quickly approaching, many business might be considering taking out an ad to be shown on the Sphere, but it comes at a cost.

It'll already set you back a pretty penny to advertise on the exterior of the world-famous music and entertainment arena on a normal week, never mind during the Super Bowl.

In normal circumstances, it's reported to cost $450,000 a day or an eye-watering $650,000 per week, according to investor and online personality Joe Pompliano.

This figure is believed to be based on how many people are estimated to view the ad.

Sussex Innovation writes: "MSG’s pricing is based on an estimation of 4.7 million daily impressions and the package includes working directly with their team of designers to produce a 90-second spot.

"The impressions comprise of 300K in-person impressions and 4.4 million across social media."

In a new update, Pompliano shared the rates for the Super Bowl.

He shared on X on January 31: "The Las Vegas Sphere is charging brands up to $2 million for advertising takeovers during Super Bowl week."

Pompliano added: "All inventory has been sold, with rates increasing as the game gets closer."

Discussing the increased rates, an anonymous source told Campaign US: "For these big events, they sell these takeovers, which basically means you have to buy all the inventory, so that’s why the price goes up.

"There’s also a little bit of a premium.”

While undeniably hefty, it works out substantially cheaper than a Super Bowl TV ad.

It's thought that the average 30-second ad for this year's event costs a staggering $7 million. Despite inflation, this is the around the same price as last year.
