Las Vegas sphere called a ‘wonder of the world’ after people see aerial footage

People are flooding to social media in awe after seeing aerial footage of new entertainment venue Sphere in Las Vegas.

The new live entertainment space located in Las Vegas officially opened on 29 September with a concert by Irish rock band U2 - and people were astounded by its dome-shaped LED screen inside.

However, the outside of the building has social media users equally as blown away, particularly after a video was shared on TikTok by someone flying over the city in a plane.

Prepare to feel like something's watching you:

The inside of Sphere features a screen which goes 'from ground to 250 feet high, all the way round,' the building's operations officer, Rich Claffey tells CNN.

The space can be experienced by a whopping 18,000 people at a time and the LED screen is complemented by 164,000 speakers dotted around the space meaning concertgoers are 'fully immersed'.

Those who saw footage from Sphere's opening night were utterly captivated by the outer-worldly nature of the inside of the building - it's giving The Matrix vibes - but that certainly doesn't mean the people who built it copped out on splashing some of the $2.3 billion budget on making the outside of the building epic too.

Paige - who goes by @herrboldt25 on the platform - took to TikTok to share footage of the Sphere from her perspective in a plane.

The video shows the plane flying over Las Vegas, Sphere a beacon of light in the landscape, a moving eye rotating on its outer screen.

The caption reads: "Flying into Vegas with the new sphere be like #lasvegas #msgsphere #spherelasvegas #vegasstrip #vegas #madisonsquaregarden."

And people have flocked to the footage in absolute awe of the building.

One user said: "This might sound extreme but I would truly class The Sphere as a modern wonder of the world."

Others couldn't help but point out that the building is man-made, but hey, the comment has a nice sentiment.

"I feel like that sphere is the best kept public secret cuz I didn’t even hear they were building it and saw it talked about when it was live. Lol," a second chimed in.

A third commented: "That shows the real size of the Sphere. impressive!"

"Imagine someone not knowing about this and finally thinks aliens hit Las Vegas," a fourth joked.

And a final resolved: "That damn sphere might be the coolest thing ever."
