A North Carolina toddler simply could not wait to start opening his presents on Christmas Day, so woke up at 3am and unwrapped everything underneath the tree.
What would you do if you came downstairs on Christmas morning to find all of your presents had already been unwrapped?
That was the exact conundrum that North Carolina dad, Scott Reintgen, faced on Monday morning when he was awoken to the sound of his three-year-old son asking for a pair of scissors to open a gift he'd unwrapped in the middle of the night.

But, the toddler hadn't just secured a preview for one of his gifts. In his state of excitement, he'd unwrapped absolutely everything underneath the tree.
The author and dad-of-three — who shares a six-year-old and a one-year-old with his wife, Katie — shared what happened on X (formerly known as Twitter).
He wrote: "Three-year-old came down at 3am and unwrapped EVERYONE’S presents."
The post was accompanied by a picture of the family's Christmas tree surrounded by opened presents and shredded wrapping paper.
But, the three-year-old apparently had a very good explanation for his actions.

In a later post, Scott shared a video explaining the toddler's 'version of events,' saying he 'wanted to open all the presents so no one was confused' about what they had received.
"That’s his story," he jokingly added.
"Also have to add: we’re not mad. He’s a good kid, and it’s a story we’ll tell for the rest of our lives."
Speaking to NBC News, Scott said the child had 'found his Spider-Man web-shooters, and so he wanted scissors to cut them out.'

Katie added that he had opened 'literally everything, from the tiniest eraser to the biggest box.'
"He wanted us to be able to see our presents so we knew what they were," Scott continued. "I think he legitimately just felt that he was doing a service to everyone. He will not do it again next year, we hope."
The rest of the morning became a mission for Scott and Katie to save Christmas for the rest of the family.

"The 6-year-old is very much the rule-follower so the idea that someone would just go down and open all the presents would just be unthinkable to him," Scott explained.
So, while he put the kids back to bed, Katie quickly re-wrapped the gifts with the torn paper so everybody could open their own presents.
Fellow X users were quick to comment on the funny festive tale.
One person wrote: "Peak three year old energy."

And a third added: "This story will live in infamy. I almost pity the kid when this gets told at every major event of their life," to which Scott replied that it was 'already written into a wedding speech.'
